5 March, 2024The 15th edition of the Alternative Mining Indaba has ended in Cape Town. The Environment Africa child representative, George Kande, had the privilege and honor of joining the 3 people who were selected to read and present the Indaba Declaration/ Communiqué. Thank you AMI Secretariat for recognizing the power of children's participation. We will share the declaration soon.
Later in the day the Environment Africa Country Director joined Zambian CSOs for an engagement with the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Mines. The engagement focused on the importance of involving CSOs and communities in the mining sector in Zambia. The PS called for more engagements back home. George Kande and Namo Chuma paid a courtesy call on the office of the Commissioner of Children of the Western Cape. EAZ will collaborate with the office of the Commissioner in organising the African Children s' summit that will be held in South Africa in August 2024.
